How To Start a Candle Business:  The Basics

First: Research candles companies and their choice of wax: is it paraffin wax, soy wax or a natural wax blend? This can make a HUGE difference in the demand from your customers and how to start a candle business. Since I began in this industry over 7 years ago, many companies have begun to switch from paraffin to a natural wax alternative. Because wax is the main ingredient, it’s good to do your homework ahead of time. In my opinion, the market is HOT for natural wax candles because they typically hold their scent better, burn longer and are non-toxic.  No more black soot up your walls.  Natural wax candles are also safer for pets and your loved ones to breathe when they burn.

Second: Find a company that is going to pay you for marketing their products once you learn how to start a candle business. Most likely, this will be a direct sales company or a family owned business.  If you are choosing to MAKE your own candles, then this is not your site. I’m willing and able to guide you if you are wanting to make MONEY in a candle business, but not the actual making of candles to sell. I’ve found a company that will do all of the work of production and packaging so you and I can make the profit.
